Changing and writing your goals
You can request to change only your goals between certain dates.
You can next request a change your goals between January and March 2025.
We’ll send an email when you can submit your request.
Any changes you make must be reviewed and agreed with us.
Reasons you can change your goals

you've learnt something that means your goal needs to change

doing so will make tracking your progress simpler
Your new goal must:

not change what you want to achieve with the funding

explain how you plan to meet one of the 4 uniting the movement outcomes - reduce inequalities, increase activity, reduce inactivity, improve young people's experience of sport
How to write a good goal
A good goal should be:
-
specific – it includes what you’re trying to achieve and who you’re trying to achieve it for
-
measurable – it includes how you will show whether it’s been a success
-
achievable – it shows that you have the time and skills available
-
relevant – it includes how you’re contributing to your organisational, and the Uniting the Movement, outcomes
-
time-limited – it includes the date when you will complete the goal

Specific

Is it simple and concise?

Can you make it more focused on concrete steps?

Is it targeted at a particular audience?
Measurable

Can it include a target number or %?

Can you give explicit numbers (rather than ‘up to xx’)?

Is there data you need to start collecting?
Achievable

Can it be completed by your organisation? Are there any factors that might prevent you from achieving this?

Do you have the staff, time and resources available?

Is this goal challenging but realistic?
Relevant

How does it support the 4 uniting the movement outcomes? They are increasing activity, decreasing inactivity, tackling inequalities, improve young people’s experience of sport

How does it link to your organisational or Sport England strategy?

How might it support wider organisational goals?
Time-limited

Does it include a date or deadline?

Have you built in time in case of a delay?

When and how will you track progress before the end point?

Example:
To complete the identification and installation of a workable, robust Client Relationship Management system that is fit for purpose and being used effectively by all team members.
This is needed to ensure each team member is aware of the connections across the team, to avoid duplication as well as ensuring that we have a sustainable system in case any team members leave the organisation – by 30 September 2025.
